Welcome to Morrow Memorial Preschool

Morrow is a co-operative preschool offering a creative and rich PLAY-based approach that encourages exploration and joyful learning.  Through both planned experiences and free play we provide a happy, safe, and nurturing environment for children to learn at their own pace and in the ways that are best for them.  Our program nurtures enthusiastic, confident learners by encouraging children to be active, creative, and independent thinkers - eager to try new ideas and express themselves - so that they are ready for Kindergarten and beyond.

Our Developmental Goals

We design our environment, daily routines, and interactions to support growth in key developmental domains that are vital to each child’s overall learning and well-being:

  • Social/Emotional: Helping children feel safe and welcomed, build friendships, and develop self-confidence, independence, empathy, and conflict-resolution skills.

  • Cognitive: Fostering curiosity, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration through hands-on discovery.

  • Physical: Developing coordination, strength, and confidence with activities that use large and small muscles while teaching safety.

A Day Filled with Play-Based Learning

Each day at Morrow, children engage in diverse activities designed to support their social, emotional, and intellectual development. Our dedicated teachers use a carefully crafted program and intentionally chosen classroom materials to achieve our goals and give your child a successful start in school.

Creative

Children explore self-expression through paint, clay, play dough, water, and finger paints, focusing on the process and experimentation rather than finished products. Blocks of all sizes encourage physical and social play, including building, adventure, and risk-taking.

Music

Music activities connect with other learning areas through listening, singing, playing rhythm instruments, dancing, and creative movement.

Science

Hands-on exploration includes observing seasonal changes, plants, cooking, and studying animals in natural or zoo habitats.

Language, Literature & Customs

Children develop communication and listening skills through storytime, books, and flannel board stories. Celebrations like Halloween, Thanksgiving, and birthdays help children learn about holidays, diverse traditions and cultures.

Cognitive & Conceptual

Games and activities teach colors, letters, numbers, shapes, measurement, position, and body parts to build foundational cognitive skills.

Physical & Gross Motor

Opportunities for movement include climbing, balancing, riding trikes, and using large and small blocks to develop gross motor skills.

Community

We help children understand their role in the wider community by meeting local helpers like firefighters and postal workers through local field trips in our community.  Monthly family service projects cultivate empathy, kindness, and stewardship from an early age.
