Is there a program for young 2s?
No. Our two and a half year old classes is for children who turn two by March 15.

More information can be found in the Classes section of our web site.

What is your policy on potty training?
Two-and-a-half-year-olds do not need to be potty trained. The helping parent is responsible for any necessary diaper changes during class and the school provides appropriate facilities and best practices for diaper changing.

Three-year-olds are strongly encouraged to be potty trained. We understand that accidents happen and recommend that children who are potty training are sent with a change of clothing. Our teachers will work with families to meet potty training goals.

How many children in a class?
Generally, the 2 ½-year-old classes have eight children and the 3- and 4-year-old classes have 12 children.

Do the four year olds work on letters and numbers?
The most important goal of our early childhood curriculum is to help children become enthusiastic learners. Our curriculum is designed to help children become confident learners by letting them try out their own ideas and experience success, and by helping them acquire learning skills such as the ability to solve problems, ask questions, and use words to describe their ideas, observations, and feelings. Students learn through play, stories, songs, art, and conversation.

More information can be found in the Curriculum section of our web site.

What additional programs are offered at the school?
We offer music, art, and lunch programs. Each hour-long session is once a week and includes a time to eat lunch (brought from home) along with the class or free play.

More information can be found in the Enrichment section of our web site.

How do you handle separation?
We understand that some children have a harder time with separation than others. If your child is having a hard time transitioning into the classroom, the teacher will work with you and your child individually. Based on our experience, we recommend a quick good-bye at drop off with the teacher and helping parent on hand to help with the transition. Parents can wait close by until the child is calm and secure. In the rare event that your child is distraught, the teacher will contact you.

Do children need to have shots to start school?
All children must have a physical check-up within the year prior to entering school. Each child must submit the Universal Health Record signed by the physician and parent or guardian before being admitted to class.

As required by the state of NJ, all children under 59 months must receive a flu shot each year.

More information can be found in the Health Policy section of our web site.

Morrow is a Christian school. What does that mean?
As an extension of Morrow Memorial United Methodist Church, the school presents a Christian orientation toward developing a positive self-image, social development with a peer group, positive interaction with other adults, and learning experiences through play and play materials. Students learn several prayers that are said before snack. Classes learn about and celebrate Christmas and Easter.

There is no attempt at denominational emphasis or indoctrination. We encourage families of all faiths to share their traditions with the school.

How many times will I co-op in the year and what's involved?
Each family helps in the classroom on an equal basis with all other parents, approximately nine to ten times in a year. On your helping parent days, you will arrive 15 minutes early and the teacher will go over your responsibilities for the day. You will be responsible for providing snack for the class that day. This is also a time for you to have fun with your child at school. The four-year-olds take driving field trips and parents are expected to sign up to drive for one to two trips throughout the year.

More information can be found in the Parents section of our web site.

May I bring my baby to my helping parent days?
Your helping parent day is a special day for your preschooler. Your child becomes the helping friend for the day and has a lot of special privileges, not the least of which is that his/her parent/grandparent/relative is with him/her on that special day. It is your preschooler's chance to be in the spotlight and your opportunity to spend time with and observe your child in the classroom. Many families at the school have younger children and have arranged to share babysitters or watch each other's children for helping days.

What else is required of parents?
In addition to helping days, parents are required to participate in one school clean-up, participate in our Bake Sale, provide assistance to the Fundraising or Social Committees or serve on the Preschool Board, provide transportation on school trips, and attend Parent-Teacher conferences.

More information can be found in the Parents section of our web site.

How can I get more involved?
You can join the Preschool Board or volunteer to chair a fundraising or social event. If you have a special skill or talent, you can talk to your child’s teacher about sharing it with the class.

How long have the teachers been at the school?
While the time at our school varies from teacher to teacher, all of our teachers have the appropriate education, experience and training necessary to work with preschoolers. Each of our staff continually updates her early childhood education through various programs and seminars.

More information can be found in the Teachers section of our web site.

Can I get a refund on my tuition if I change my mind?
The registration fee and first tuition installment in March are non-refundable. Tuition refunds for current students are offered only after the request is received in writing 4 weeks before the student’s last day and the student’s slot in his/her grade is filled. If these conditions are met, half the pro-rated tuition will be given for the refundable portion of tuition received by the school. No tuition will be refunded after January 31.

Do I get a discount for paying tuition in full?
Families paying tuition in full by June 1 will receive a $50 discount.
