Safe Sanctuary

Dear Morrow Parents and Alumni,The safety of our children is a top priority at Morrow Memorial Preschool. To this end, and as we are an extension of the church, we will follow the Morrow Memorial United Methodist Church Safe Sanctuaries Policy starting in the 2012-2013 school year.
The Safe Sanctuaries Policy was developed by the Greater New Jersey Annual Conference (GNJAC) of the United Methodist Church to provide a safe and secure environment for our children and to reduce the risk of abuse of our children in the church and its ministries.
A requirement of this policy is that volunteers complete background checks. The background check will include a DMV check and criminal background check performed by the same independent, third-party agency used by Morrow Church. The background check can be completed in the privacy of your own home on a secure website. The results will be sent to the pastors of Morrow Memorial Church and will be held in strict confidence. No member of the preschool, including the staff or board of directors, will know the results. Should the pastors have any questions or concerns, they will speak privately with the volunteer.
The DMV check and criminal background check are good for three years. We will require new and returning parents to sign an agreement to complete this background check over the summer when registering for the 2012-2013 school year. Background checks must be completed by September 1, 2012, for your children to be permitted to attend school.
Please save your receipts when you complete the background check over the summer as you will be eligible to be reimbursed once we receive confirmation that the check has been completed. You may also choose to have your payment be considered a donation to the preschool.
Morrow Memorial Preschool is incredibly fortunate to have such a wonderful, committed community of parents that help make our school such a success. While we understand that this will take some time on your part, providing enhanced safety for all our children makes it worthwhile.
